Simple Solutions for Managing Your Money

Every month, you keep saying that you want to save something back but it seems that there is nothing left over once all the bills are paid.  You know that you need to save something for a rainy day and you are sick of being broke all the time. What kind of life is this just living from paycheck to paycheck? Are there any simple solutions to your money management problems?  If you really want to change the way you are living, then it is time to follow the following simple solutions for managing your money.

In order to manage your money, you first need to know exactly how much money that you need every month for the basic necessities such as your rent, utilities, food, clothing, etc.  If you don’t have enough money every month to just fulfill those basic needs, then your first step should be to find a way to bring in more money every month such as finding more gainful employment. You then need to set up a budget list that will allocate money for those basic expenses and then figure out exactly how much money is actually left over every month. Once you know the actual amount of money left over, you can then figure in how much you can save every month and also allow some spending money for miscellaneous items or an occasional entertainment expense.

The next on the list of simple solutions for managing your money would be to change the way you buy groceries. Before going to the grocery store, you first need to write down a grocery list. Also never go grocery shopping while you are hungry because you will be more tempted to purchase items that are not on the list. When not hungry, you are more apt to spend anywhere from 10 to 20 percent less at the grocery store because you are not tempted to buy anything that looks appetizing.  By bringing a grocery list every time you go shopping, this will keep you from having to go back to the store because you forgot something.

Another one of the simple solutions for managing your money would be to leave the credit cards at home.  If you don’t like keeping cash on hand or hate writing checks, then use a debit card instead.  Be sure though to keep all the receipts or write down all debt card purchases because you don’t want to over spend this way either. If you can’t purchase something truly needed such as a new washer and dryer without using the credit card, then make sure that you can at least make the minimum payment every month.

Always set aside a little emergency money for those unexpected expenses such as car repairs or a late night trip to the emergency room. When those emergencies come up, you certainly will be glad that you put that money aside.

Be sure to keep track of all your money every month. Don’t over spend more than you have in the bank account because the overdraft fees will really cause you a lot of stress if checks start bouncing. Once you start saving a little back every month then you have a money cushion that will keep you from feeling so strapped financially.  These are only a few simple solutions for managing your money.  Follow these simple solutions to stop living paycheck to paycheck every month.
