Is Frugal Simple Living Worth It?
Frugal simple living is getting in the habit of looking for alternatives that are less expensive. It does not mean that you have to be a miser and save every penny that you have. Frugal simple living can be something that is enjoyed by everyone in the family. So what is frugal simple living and is it really worth your time and effort?
Frugal simple living can be a game that you and your whole family can get involved in. For example, have your older children look through the Sunday paper for coupons and clip them out. Start making a list of things that are on sale and where it is the cheapest. This may take a little more time but it will be well worth it in the long run. The grocery store is where you can pick up some of the best bargains so this is a great place to save.
Frugal simple living also doesn’t mean that you have to cut out entertainment all together but it just means that you need to make a few changes. Instead of eating out every night, cook something special at home. Have everyone involved in the menu planning so they all get to choose their favorite foods. Instead of going to the movies, rent a movie instead. Is the cable bill too high, then cut that back to basic cable and rent movies. You might find that renting movies is cheaper than cable in the long run. When dining out, ask for water instead of buying tea or soft drinks. On a family of four, you could save up to $10 just by drinking water only.
Frugal simple living doesn’t have to be something horrible to accomplish. It only means that you are looking for less expensive alternatives. If you want a goal of now living debt free, then frugal simple living is the way to go.
