With the economy at its worst in many years, there sure is a lot of advice out there these days on frugal simple living.  You can get information about how to set up a garden, grind your own flour, and all sorts of tips on how to use for rainwater as well as even something as simple as conserving energy by turning off the lights. All of this is really great advice but what you really need to consider is how to adapt frugal simple living into your own lifestyle.

Some are really great frugal living tips but this doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you. How frugal you are has a lot to do with the type of lifestyle that you live.  We can all be frugal by turning off the lights when we leave the room or adjusting the thermostat to save on our utility bill, but being frugal is more than just that. Frugal simple living is really about saving money and leaning how to manage your finances. It is about changing how we manage our money, not just for a day or a few weeks but for a lifetime. If we really want to live frugally, then we need to change the way that we look at our finances.

The type of lifestyle that we choose dictates the way that we manage our money.  Every household is different on how we manage our finances and we all have different goals, short term and long term.  It is not about collecting rainwater, grinding wheat or not buying the latest electronic gadget out there but it is about how we manage our money.  In other words, it is about thinking before you spend. Ask yourself every time before buying something, is this a want or a need. Learn to take care of the things that you already have such as your car so that is will last longer because it is about conserving what you already have.

Adapting frugal simple living in your lifestyle is about reducing the amount of money that you spend every month and finally living within your means. Learn to take care of what you already have so that it will last longer.  And set up short term and long term financial goals.
